Cross-border Successions within the EU

Eight million Europeans live outside their country of origin. There are two and a half million properties in the EU which belong to people residing in states which differ from the location of the property itself. Every year, 450 000 successions with an international dimension are opened in Europe, amounting to a sum in excess of EUR 123 billion.

The conference, organized jointly with the European Commission, will be an opportunity to discuss several issues raised by the draft regulation on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and authentic instruments in matters of succession.

Also, I invite you to join the many VIPs from the political, legal and academic world who will be taking part in this event.
